Today we welcome a brand new year! Our theme for 2012 is, “A Year of Bold Expansion”. The theme verse is Isaiah 54:2, “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.”
In 2011 our theme majored in goals designed to strengthen each individual in his journey of Biblical discipleship. Our church family was encouraged to spend an hour each day in Bible reading and prayer; memorize two verses each week; and to increase giving and disciple others in the Lord.
This year, 2012, we intend to shift gears and use our spiritual energies to expand the Fairview Baptist Church and its influence at home and abroad. Isaiah’s prophecy used the analogy of a Nomadic herdsman who prospered and needed larger accommodations. The entire 54th chapter stresses God’s everlasting love for Israel and declares to the nation His blessings. He encourages the nation to be bold in their quest for enlargement so that they may break forth on the right hand and the left and inherit the Gentiles and possess and inhabit the desolate cities. (Isaiah 54:3).
We are barely scratching the surface as to what this local body of believers is capable of accomplishing for our Lord. God has given amazing blessings to this place in ministries, workers, and facilities. This is our year to boldly expand the work so that others can be saved and God’s people may possess the possessions that are ours as His people.
